Filament Drying Guide

Drying and storage affect print quality, especially for PETG, TPU and nylon-based materials.

Why drying matters

Moisture can cause bubbling, rough surfaces, weak layer adhesion and inconsistent extrusion.

Not all materials absorb moisture at the same speed, but proper storage helps maintain quality across every material line.

  • Keep opened rolls sealed when not in use.
  • Use desiccant and dry storage containers for sensitive materials.
  • Dry PA6-CF and other nylon-based materials before professional testing.

Material sensitivity

PLA is generally easier to store, while PETG and TPU need more attention. PA6-CF is moisture-sensitive and should be treated carefully.

If a print surface becomes rough or popping sounds appear, drying should be tested before blaming printer settings.

Wholesale buyer notes

Distributors should include storage recommendations on product pages or instruction cards.

This reduces returns and improves customer experience for professional users.
